My first website was built in Google Apps. Very simple, very free. I didn't work too hard at it, as I wanted to get it set up quickly.
This site is built on Typepad - the blogging platform. And it too is free, but as a special gift from Typepad's parents, the good folks at Six Apart Media. They've provided professional subscriptions to journalists such as me who are working solo now.
I think the site looks good, so far. And it will encourage me to post to it much more frequently.
One thing hasn't changed. I'm still here to share my services as a consultant to public media journalists.
My primary focus is on local NPR stations -- and the news directors, editors, hosts, producers and reporters who tirelessly work for them. However, this also includes the general managers, program directors, content experts and others who also define the station team.
My year ahead will concentrate on multimedia skills and usage in public service news.
